MISSION
The mission of the African Commission is to promote policies and awareness of issues
concerning the cultural, social, economic, political, educational, health and general
well-being of Africans, African Americans; and the people of Africa descent. The
Commission collaborates with and assists other civic and private groups in organizing and
sponsoring programs and events aimed at promoting African Diaspora cultural awareness
and contemporary policy considerations. As part of City Government, the Commission
encourages an understanding of contemporary African and African American policy issues
and promotes awareness and recognition of the African Culture and civilization.
The Commission, created as part of Newark's City government, promotes policies and
awareness of issues concerning the cultural, social, economic, political, educational,
health and the general well-being of Africans, African Americans. The Commission also
collaborates with and assists other civic and private groups in organizing and sponsoring
programs and events aimed at promoting African cultural awareness and contemporary
policy considerations to explore and critically examine the African global experience.
